DYNAMIC LIVING
When we put the first piece of chocolate or any sweet in our mouth and chew it slowly it tastes wonderful. As we consume more pieces the pleasure gradually decreases and eventually more eating leads to displeasure. After a good interval of time eating the same sweet again becomes enjoyable. Pleasure of sex also has similar characteristics.
Happiness does not reside in some object, person or place which upon obtaining or reaching we become blissful. Happiness is also not a treasure lying inside us we can capture thru meditation or a certain spiritual exercise and attain a state of 'Nirvana'. In my opinion, happiness is an emotional experience produced when one is engaged with the external world in balanced harmony. Happiness is not like a specific objective to be pursued directly. It is a by-product of one's well-tuned interactions with what is out there.
Sometimes eating makes us happy, sometimes feeding someone else gives us joy. At times giving affection makes us feel good and sometimes receiving it. Expressing our feelings verbally is satisfying to us at times while quietly listening to others is joyful at other times. When we are in warm company of friends and relatives it feels wonderful but sometimes being alone by oneself is enriching. Watching a hilarious comedy gives us a lot of pleasure. On the other hand, reading a tragic story or listening to a sad song equally brings a lot of relief to our heart.
Dynamic life is a happier life. After an object gives us pleasure if we cannot think of anything else and desperately try to hold on to that object, we have reached a condition that sages have named ‘a state of excessive attachment'. This inevitably leads to frustration and misery. Albert Einstein has given a following elegant definition of life: "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you have to keep moving." When we are on a journey, having enjoyed one attraction we move on. We do not have to hurry thru life either. Happiness is not a destination which you have to rush to reach. Happiness lies in the journey itself. This world is filled with beautiful things: Lofty Mountains and blue lagoons, dancing fields of prairie and colorful skies. Let us absorb all beauty thoroughly but gently. Of course this does not mean that there is no pain in life. As a matter of fact, life involves plenty of pain, hardships and disappointments. If confronted with courage and serenity adversities can be overcome.
No need to elaborate any further.
