                                            CORONA VIRUS VARIANTS           There is an upsurge or second wave of Covid-19 in India. This is attributable to  several factors. First of all new mutations of this virus have emerged. Also, people have  become lax about following safety precautions. Vaccination campaign is on the way in  India but there are not enough people coming at vaccination centers. According to experts,  the concerns and fears are unwarranted. Best course is to get vaccinated as early as possible, with whatever approved vaccines are available. At least this is likely to save from severe  illness and death.           People in India should not let their guard down.                                                   KOVID- 19                 It has been about one year since Kovid-19 became a worldwide pandemic.  Scientists  have been amazingly successful in developing effective vaccines against it, in  less  than one year. Such process used to take more than 5 to 10 years in the past.  Several countries  have started vaccinating their population. President Biden and his team,  in  USA,  have  accelerated the vaccination campaign. This is a welcome step. Based on the views of some well  known  economic  experts,  here are some proposals: IMMEDIATE;    Significant cash transfers to the bank accounts of the poor for a period of  about six months.   Initiating MNREGA for the large number of urban unemployed. SHORT TERM : Implementing right kind of infrastructure projects. Easy credits to  promote MSME industries. Reducing import tariffs and promoting export hubs for things  where India has comparative advantage. LONG TERM;   Attention to improving quality of education   and increasing the necessary  expenditure at state level.
